THIS LECTURE HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO THE FALL. THE DATE WILL BE POSTED SOON.
Speaker: Dr. Stephen Hinshaw, leading ADHD researcher,
and author of the new book The Triple Bind: Saving Our Teenage Girls from Today's Pressures
Our girls are at risk, says psychologist and prominent ADHD authority Stephen Hinshaw. Societal expectations, cultural trends, and conflicting messages are creating what he calls “the Triple Bind” for our girls and young women.
That bind is putting more and more girls at risk for aggression, eating disorders, depression, and even suicide. He recently conducted research following girls with ADHD into young adulthood, and he will include in his talk results from that research and the particular way the Triple Bind might affects girls with ADHD.
Fortunately, this nationally respected author and ADHD researcher works in the Bay Area and graciously agreed to come talk with our group.
Hinshaw is chair of the Psychology Department at the University of California, Berkeley.
You can read about his work here: http://psychology.berkeley.edu/faculty/profiles/shinshaw.html
